Corpus Christi procession in Igls

They take religion seriously here.   The only road through the village was closed for 2 hours for this procession and celebration.   An unexpected  treat to be here for it.  Buses and cars backed up for miles.  We could walk to it.

The celebration began at 5 am with the ringing of church  bells from around the area and the very loud firing of rifles.  This continued on the hour until noon .

(About half of these pictures were taken by Norbert )

 Led by a woman

Hard job.  Front man is carrying huge banner tipped forward. It is windy.  Second man's job is to help hold the weight

Their outfits are beautiful

Firing - the two little boys next to the girls are carrying fake guns.  After the real guns are fired they run out and pick up the shells in blue bags hanging at their side.  You can also see the size of the banners that were carried
